Responsibilities

Process Engineer of AGM Process Engineering

Since joining AGM, Sam has principally acted in several roles on the APLNG Upstream CSG project. In his most recent role Sam is the Senior Process Engineer in the Water Solutions Implementation Team which includes process engineering assurance and FEED engineering for a number of water projects including a pipeline pump station and water transfer station.

Work History

Sam joined AGM Process Engineering in 2010 working on the APLNG Project for Origin Energy. Here he has held a number of roles gaining a variety of experience. Initially Sam worked as a Process Integration Engineer responsible for integration of multi-disciplinary activities associated with development of design of the project. He undertook technical assessments and worked on conceptual design development of commercial opportunities. He also worked as a Lead Process Engineer in the Pipeline Compression and Interconnect Facilities Team. Here he completed pre-concept technical assessment and development, conceptual design, FEED and detailed design, construction support, and operations procedure development.

Before joining AGM, BP Sam spent 4.5year working at the BP Bulwer Island Refinery in the “Process Development” team conducting conceptual design for minor projects (specialising in developing project work scope for turnarounds) and the “Process Support” team, providing technical support for two crude and vacuum distillation units, and acting as Lead Process Engineer for 2 distillation unit turnarounds (a Deisobutaniser, and Crude and Vacuum Distillation Unit). Sam also spent 12 months working in BP’s commercial supply team in Melbourne, interfacing with the trading team in Singapore to provide oil market analysis to the Bulwer and Kwinana Refinery planning teams.

Skills

Always enthusiastic to engage and learn, Sam has developed excellent technical knowledge and understanding across the oil and gas industry, with particular expertise in distillation and refinery process units. He has shown the ability to deliver at the highest standard in his engineering design work and in more hands-on roles supervising, advising and inspecting turnaround maintenance and project work. Sam thrives on tight deadlines, showing the ability to work under pressure without sacrificing quality or his cheerful demeanour. Sam’s affable personality and excellent communication skills fit him smoothly into any work environment, and he is always seeking out opportunities to share knowledge and develop others, both within his engineering roles and through his casual teaching work for the University of Queensland.
