Work History

Jack began working for AGM Process Engineering in 2008 after graduating from chemical engineering at the University of Queensland. Working in the Process Development and Design teams at BP’s Bulwer Island Refinery, Jack performed tasks ranging from conceptual design and project evaluation studies through to detailed design and commissioning assistance. During this time Jack also worked at BP Bulwer Island’s Bitumen Loader facility, where he assisted with improving their engineering documentation.

In 2010 Jack moved to the operations team at the Bulwer Island Refinery, overseeing the operation of the tank farm, wharves, terminals and wastewater processing facility. This job involves day to day communication and coordination of the refinery operations and maintenance teams, equipment troubleshooting and optimisation, control of work, and process and incident investigation.

During Jack’s first years in process design teams he developed a good understanding of the fundamental design considerations in process engineering and the mechanisms of equipment operation. He now puts this to good use in his operations role where troubleshooting and optimising equipment is a daily task. In his operations role Jack has also stood out as a good leader of small teams, being well respected for his solid understanding of the process and his reasonable and enthusiastic nature.
